The game takes place between two players, or, sometimes, between two teams of two players.
Table is fitted with 6 pockets in all four corners and the middle of the two long sides.
On the table are placed at the beginning of each game, 22 balls.
There are:
* 15 red balls, worth one point each,
* 6 balls, colored balls called as: a yellow ball, worth 2 points, a green ball (3 points), brown (4 points), blue (5 points), pink (6 points) and black ball (7 points) .
* A white ball.
Players hit, in turn, the cue ball, with a stick called the cue. The goal of the game is the introduction of the red balls and colored pockets, according to the rules of the game, and achieve a higher score than that obtained by the adversary. If a player executes a shot and enter the correct one or more balls in pockets, he remains at the table and running the following shot (and following, when, and they are successful). If the player runs a legal blow, but does not introduce any ball in the pocket, running his opponent next shot. If a player commits a foul (foul engl.), eg the cue ball does not touch any other ball, first touch a ball that was not allowed to be played in that shot or insert in your pocket the cue ball or a ball disallowed, the player loses turn to mass and is penalized by awarding a 4 to 7 points opponent.
A match consists of one or more games (engl. frame) independent. Each game begins with the balls on the board in the initial configuration and lasts until the end of his rule by the end balls or his disposal by one of the players.
